Breaking News on an Entertainment “News” Program Seems Like an Oxymoron to Me

October 19, 2008 at 4:33 pm (2008 election, Funny stuff, Life in your 20's, Paris Hilton, blogging, breaking news, business, celebrities pushing for barack, culture, entertainment, entertainment news channels, entertainment news vs the real news, funny, humor, jokes, madonna divorce, making light of a terrible situation, music, new james bond movie, stock market crisis, television, where to find humor during these trying times)

Everytime I tune into the basic news channels lately it’s always about the election or about how our country’s economy is in the toilet. So I search for some kind of solace in the world of the entertainment business. I just find humor in the words, “breaking news” when I turn on E! News or ET. I get a little chuckle out of the fact that tragedy in the entertainment business is Madonna divorcing Guy Ritchie after 8 years of marriage. I think the world of entertainment news has always been warped but during these trying times I find humor out of this nonsensical news.

It’s kindof like I need to stop everything that I am doing to hear about the latest news from the “Hills” or what Justin Timberlake was wearing at the latest awards show. Who gives a shit?! I watch these shows to give my brain a break from the real news. I am sick of hearing about how my generation is screwed because President Bush screwed up so badly that the next president is climbing an uphill battle for the next 4 years (or 8). I hate waking up in the morning to Diane Sawyer telling me the stock market took another nosedive and that I shouldn’t even try investing my money. I should put it all away in hopes that the banks won’t go under. It’s a great feeling to be paying 1/3 of my earnings to FICA even though the system won’t be around for when I actually will need it. I think entertainment news gives me a break from the horrors of being 23 in this shitty, shitty world. I can laugh at the fat that Madonna, who has 250 million dollars to her name is getting divorced. Poor thing. She has it so hard, doesn’t she? And then there’s me who works 60 hour work weeks and struggling to pay off my student loans. Sometimes we all need to soak in some useless knowledge in order to regain our sanity.

I think the entertainment business is nothing but a running joke. Seeing all these celebrities out and about in their Louis Vuitton bags telling me to go out and vote. Just vote… that’s it. Oh wait, Vote for their favorite candidate– Barack Obama. They’re just supporting their country. Uh huh, sure. I know who I am voting for and have for quite some time now. I think anyone who listens to Kelsey Grammer (R) or Oprah (D) and decides who to vote for from their endorsement is an idiot. That is why I think the entertainment news are comedies compared to the “real” news channels (CNN, MSNBC, FOX). I believe it is a great juxtaposition to go from watching Jim Cramer telling me all my money will be worth squat in a few months and then hearing about the hot new James Bond film coming out this November. So, the next time you are feeling down about your 401K becoming non-existent just watch ET to find out what Paris Hilton has to tell Mary Hart about her new boyfriend and fragrance.

New Season of South Park

October 4, 2008 at 3:06 pm (Funny stuff, Life in your 20's, blogging, cartman for president, culture, entertainment, funny, humor, music, opinion, poop jokes, presidential election, ready for my shows to come back on the air, return of quality tv, return of scripted tv, return of south park, south park, south park is back, television, trey parker, wall street crisis)

Starting this weekend there is a marathon on Comedy Central that is entirely devoted to Cartman. This marathon starts every night at 11. This marathon is just the preparation for the start of the new season of South Park that begins October 8th. I can only imagine what the kids of South Park have in mind for this year’s crazy presidential election and the wall street madness. I think this season has some amazing potential because of all the crap that has been happening in the world lately. South Park, please don’t disappoint!

*** Remember that you all need to tune into Comedy Central this Wednesday!!!***

Really, Clay? You’re Gay? I had No Idea.

October 3, 2008 at 2:27 am (Funny stuff, Life in your 20's, american idol, blogging, clay aiken, clay aiken and his new baby, clay aiken on people magazine, culture, entertainment, funny, good morning america interviews, humor, music, spamalot, television)

My friend has been mentioning that I have yet to mention anything about Clay and his newfound gayness. Well, here’s the reason I didn’t write anything about this subject– Everyone already knew he was gay. There is no shocker ending to this tale. I do think it is a bit umm… weird that he had a child with his music producer “Friend”. I think it is creepy watching his elf-like face singing to his baby on GMA. I’ve never been a Claymate and I think those that are Claymates are interesting. Clay was so gay from the beginning of Idol to today. The only point of the matter is that he is on People Magazine trying so hard to be like Ellen. He even kindof looks like her too.

Another thing about Clay is that he is a Broadway star. Yes, star. He sells out Spamalot shows in NYC. People go to see him perform. I can’t knock him for that. But I can make fun of him for having a horrendous haircut. Clay, didn’t the stylist from Idol teach you anything about hair products?
