New York City Experience– Day 3

February 3, 2008 at 11:27 pm (30 Rock, Bad traveling experience, Being in NYC during the Superbowl, Gay salesman, Lord and Taylor, Macys, NY Giants, NYC, NYC Fashion Week, NYC taxi, Pittsburgh, Radio City Music Hall, Rays pizza, Street performers, Super Bowl, Super Bowl champs, UGG boot, blogging, conan obrien, credit card, elf, funny, funny stories, humor, journal, life, marie chir, real-life situations, saks fifth avenue, shopping, super bowl 42, super bowl city, travel, traveling) (, , )

I woke up with a mission—I must purchase UGG boots. The problem with this mission was that no one had UGGs! I went to Macys last night and they said that they don’t carry the brand and Saks sold out. This was my only mission of the day since my friend was supposed to be at fashion shows all day. I ended up traveling to Lord and Taylor where the most flamboyantly gay salesman waited on me. He was awesome. He was telling me about his “girl” and how he was waiting for the new UGGs to come in because she wants the tan version but “They are like two hundred. But darling, they are so worth it! Look how adorable they are!” I must say they were pretty bitchin. He was very nice to me until I decided that I wasn’t going to open a charge card to save the 15% because there aren’t any Lord and Taylors in Pittsburgh. Pittsburghers don’t believe in shopping so any new stores that come into the area last about a year. I couldn’t believe that I finally got the world’s most comfy shoes! They are the medium brown. Probably the greatest boots ever.

After Lord and Taylor I walked to the fashion shows with my friend and the tents looks a little shady. I bet they were very nice inside but I found it kinda funny that the designers that you hear about in Vogue and award shows are stuck in the middle of Bryant Park in tents. I did see some paparazzi though. That made me feel pretty awesome. There weren’t any famous people when I was there. I looked so out of place except for my Lord and Taylor bag. I seriously feel like such a nobody in this town. Oh well.

After walking from Bryant Park, I ended up back on Fifth Avenue. I walked through Rockefeller Center and took some more pictures and wanted to get some of the greatest hot cocoa from a little café two streets away from Radio City Music Hall. The place was closed…. L I did take some pictures of the Radio City Music Hall signs and a pic of 30 Rock. I’m going there tomorrow to get my tickets for Conan!!!! I will probably end up going to Conan by myself because my friend has a meeting but I don’t even care! I’m going to be in Conan’s audience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After all that fun stuff at Rockefeller Center, I decided to walk back to my hotel. I did walk in Central Park but it looks so sad with all the dead trees and such. I did take a picture of a man dressed as the Statue of Liberty. That was cool. I also saw the horses. I also smelled the horses. Haha!

I have yet to meet anyone from America. Everyone on the streets speaks a different language and I try to ask for directions but no one knows what I am saying. It’s a bit frustrating. I did find my way back to my hotel pretty easily. It’s not that hard. I kinda think a retarded monkey could navigate through Manhattan. Just watch out for the cabs!!! They don’t stop. I am always reminded of the scene from “Elf” where he is walking across the street and the cab hits him. That is what happens. No joke. Watch out for the yellow ones… they don’t stop!

I went to Jamba Juice for the first time today and they were the nicest New Yorkers in the world! They made a delightful strawberry smoothie for me and gave me recommendations for where to go to watch the Super Bowl tonight. Apparently, Ray’s pizza is good. I guess we’ll see. Trouble is our TV is broken. Well, it’s not broken but we don’t get any channels. The cable is messed up so I think I will either be going to the pizza place next to Letterman’s studio tonight or to Dave and Busters. My friend is paranoid about what will happen if NY wins or worse if NE wins. Here are my thoughts about the Super Bowl— I don’t care who wins as long as it’s not NE.  You know what’s funny is that of course I am in NYC when the Giants win the Super Bowl. This place is crazy!

I am very excited for tomorrow and Conan! Be sure to check back tomorrow for photos and details!!
